Le quatri\u00e8me \u00e9l\u00e9ment, invisible celui-l\u00e0, est le r\u00e9seau de satellites du syst\u00e8me de positionnement global de l&#8217;arm\u00e9e am\u00e9ricaine. Le projet utilise le syst\u00e8me \u00e0 l&#8217;envers. Au lieu d&#8217;utiliser les satellites pour faire de la surveillance au sol, Ground Station surveille les satellites eux-m\u00eames et cr\u00e9e une partition de piano \u00e0 partir de leurs variations de position dans l&#8217;espace et des fluctuations de leurs signaux. Le cd pr\u00e9sente \u00e9galement des textes de Tapio Makela et Liane Davison. (48:07)<\/p>\n<p>Ground Station is an installation made from three visible elements : a DisKlavier piano, a computer and a GPS reader. A forth element, invisible, is the network of satellites from the Global Positioning System of the United-States army. The installation uses the GPS system backwards. Instead of using it to do ground surveillance, it reads the positions of the satellites themselves and the variations of their signals and turns it all into piano music. The cd also presents texts by Tapio Makela and Liane Davison.
